Alta Vista Charter School

Alta Vista Charter School was awarded $5.9 million in B.E.S.T. funding for the restoration of the existing school house and the construction of additional facilities. Previously the school operated out of a small brick schoolhouse constructed in 1917 and two modular units on site. The new construction added 18,000 square feet of classroom and breakout space as well as a cafeteria/small gymnasium. The project followed the Collaboration for High Performance Schools (CHPS) criteria process, which sets the standard for high performance school design and construction through a flexible, comprehensive rating system. Alta Vista Charter School was the first school in the nation to receive the CHPS “Verified Leader School” status. EES performed the site civil design for this project.
